Visit historic spots like Charleston Harbor, Fort Sumter, Fort Moultrie, The Battery, the USS Hunley, Patriot’s Point Naval Museum, the Charleston Market, and Rainbow Row. Or go to fun activities like The Aquarium, a River Dog’s Minor League Baseball Game, The Spoleto Art Festival USA, or a round of golf (or watching the pros) at Kiawah Island Golf Resort. Oh, and did we mention the food?! James Island is home to the original Charleston Crab House which will leave you full and happy. Regardless of what you choose to do with your day/weekend trip, you will absolutely love having Charleston so close to home!
Myrtle Beach
If you are at all a lover of the ocean, Myrtle Beach is already a household name for you. World Famous for its beautiful beaches, Myrtle Beach features multiple outlet malls, Barefoot Landing, Broadway at the Beach, The Strip, The Board Walk, The Carolina Opry, an IMAX Theater, multiple amusement parks, Ripley’s Aquarium, over 2000 restaurants, and much more. Myrtle Beach is also loosely called the “Golf Capitol of the World” with over 100 famous Golf Courses and many more mini-golf courses. Oh, and we haven’t even mentioned the baseball games, the food, the Nascar track, Bike Week, surfing, hang gliding… Needless to say, Myrtle Beach is a wonderful place located just a short ride from home here at Palmetto Air Plantation.
Hilton Head Island
Hilton Head Island is a bit of a hidden gem in South Carolina. With luxurious accommodations, pristine beaches, exquisite dining, legendary golf courses, and much more, Hilton Head is truly a wonderful place to take a break from it all. Not far from PAP, Hilton Head has a refined style, a unique pace, and a touch of quality that is becoming evermore difficult to find. Listed as one of the Top 10 US Islands with 3 nationally awarded resorts and as one of the Top 10 Family Beaches, Hilton Head has a great deal to offer and is a wonderful place to spend a day or weekend “away” from it all while still being close to home.
Columbia
Columbia is not often found in travel brochures as an A-List, one time vacation destination and that’s because its not. It has something that goes much deeper than that. It has a hometown, southern steeped, slow cooked, heart-warming draw that can only be experience when you live here in South Carolina. When you get used to USC football in the Fall; baseball and basketball in the Spring; walking along Riverfront Park, Finley Park, and spending a night on the town in the Vista or at Colonial life Arena in the Summer; going to visit places like the SC State, Art, and Civil War Museums and watching a ballet, symphony, or play at the Koger Center in the Winter; that’s when you truly realize how wonderful it is to live close to Columbia. As a day trip or a weekend getaway, it may not have the title or status of other destinations but it will certainly leave you smiling when you realize your next visit is only a small trip away from home here at Palmetto Air Plantation.
